Paving Wet Edges

  1. Water pooling: If there is a slight slope or uneven surface on your paving, water may be pooling along the edges. This can prevent proper drainage and prolong the drying process.

  2. Insufficient sunlight: If the edges of the granite paving are in a shaded area that receives less sunlight, it can slow down the evaporation of water and increase drying time.

  3. Poor drainage system: If the area where the granite paving is installed lacks proper drainage, excess water may accumulate along the edges. This can hinder drying and result in dampness.

  4. Absorbent materials nearby: If there are absorbent materials such as mulch or soil adjacent to the granite paving, they may retain moisture and transfer it to the edges, causing them to stay wet for longer.

  5. Low air circulation: In areas with poor air circulation, such as tight corners or narrow passageways, the edges of the granite paving may not receive enough airflow to aid in the drying process.

  6. Not applying SBR Primer to the back of the slab before installation.

  7. Hydrostatic pressure pushing water and moisture through the concrete from below the surface. The more likely cause is that the concrete is colder than the air, causing condensation, making it appear wet.

  8. Moisture Transparency occurs when a product is drying out naturally and should disappear over time. The best course of action is to let the patio dry out naturally or relay on a full bed of mortar.
